Gokyo Lake

Gokyo Lake, located in the Sagarmatha National Park of Solukhumbu District is at the altitude of 4,700 meters above sea level. There are 6 main lakes in the area. Among these lakes, Thonak Lake is the largest one. Since 2007 BS, the 30 km² area including Gokyo Lake was announced as Ramsar Site.

Both Hindu and Buddhist religious people worship this lake considering as pure and sacred lake. Every year of Janai Purnima (the full moon day in the month of Shrawan), the Hindu religious people take a bath in this lake.
